Twinning trip to St Pol with the Junior Brass Band in May 2014
Two coaches set out from Hebden Bridge on the 29th May 2014 for a very memorable trip to St Pol to commemorate 35 years of twinning. The party included not only longstanding members of the HBTS but also a range of musicians from Hebden Bridge who delighted their French hosts with their music. Accordion concert at the Little Theatre is a great success!
Midgely Fête 13th June & Mytholmroyd Gala 27th June 2015.
By popular request Hebden Bridge Twinning Society presented another accordion concert featuring the Bradford Accordion Band with an evening of international music at the Hebden Bridge Little Theatre on Saturday the 24th October 2015.
The HBTS had very successful tombola & preserves stalls at delightful Midgely Fête and exciting Mytholmroyd Gala! The programme of traditional events at Midgely was most entertaining while Mytholmroyd had great music and a diversity of stalls. Taken together we raised £309 for the HBTS & we were able to talk to a lot of people about twinning.
Celebration of the first 50 years of twinning between St Pol and Warstein - Jubiläumfestwochenende.
The celebrations of the first 50 years of twinning between St Pol sur Ternoise and Warstein continued in St Pol between the 8th and 10th May 2015. The programme included a visit to Notre Dame de Lorette to see the new memorial to all the dead of the 1st World War who fell in the departments of the Nord and Pas de Calais. At the heart of the celebration was the reaffirmation of the charter of twinning between St Pol and Warstein.
Following the initial celebration in May, the main event in regard to the 50th anniversary of the original twinning of St Pol and Warstein took place in Warstein on the 30th and 31st August. Our friends in Warstein worked hard to make the event both successful and enjoyable.
Support following the flooding
As soon as they heard of the terrible flooding in Hebden Royd our twin towns began raising money for donations to the flood relief funds. So far Warstein has donated €2500 and St Pol € 1320. A specific donation of €2000 from St Pol town council has now being donated to help restore the Hebden Bridge Picture House.
